The aviation industry, which already employs 6,000 in Queensland, is set to grow even further under new plans.
New defence contracts in the state have been landed by Boeing, Qantas and Australian Aerospace, the Australian reports, which could create hundreds of new positions in the sector.
In addition, AirAsiaX chose the Gold Coast as its first destination in the country and staff of low-cost carrier Air Asia will be trained in Brisbane.
Aviation brings an estimated $6 billion to the state's economy, with the government hoping that it can expand further to become a world centre of aerospace industries.
Queensland regional development and industry minister Desley Boyle told the publication that the sector is "exploding" worldwide.
"It's a great, stable, high-end, high-paying industry with lots of really good jobs for our people," he added.
A separate report in the Australian revealed that of the 240,000 full-time jobs generated in the country in the past year, half went to migrants.
