Dubai Aviation Group To Produce Planes, Eyes Airbus
PlantsFrankfurt, Germany (AHN) - Not satisfied with acquiring airlines and
airports, a Dubai aerospace group is setting its sights on the aircraft
factories of Europe's biggest plane maker as it bids to become a global aviation
power, according to the Middle East Online.
The Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE), which is backed by the United Arab
Emirates government, said on Friday that it is interested to bid for six
aircraft factories in France, Germany and Britain that Airbus S.A.S. plans to
place in the auction block.
DAE chief executive Bob Johnson told a German newspaper in an interview that
the company is interested in the Airbus factories because it wanted to venture
into plane production. "We want to do everything related to aviation," the
Middle East Online quoted Johnson as saying in the interview.
Airbus' parent company EADS is planning to sell the factories wholly or in
part to strategic partner to cut costs.
DAE is bidding for a majority share of a company running New Zealand's
Auckland International Airport. It is also eyeing to invest in London's Gatwick
airport.
The group, which was just formed last year, bought two U.S. airlines for $1.9
billion early this month. Source | http://www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/7008304818 |
