One hundred and thirty-five thousand background checks on a range of people
from pilots to farmers buying fertiliser did not find any known terrorism links.
The report shows there were 53,000 security assessments of people wanting to
visit the country, with seven knocked back.
It also reveals what the spy agency describes as a very small number of
Australians who were refused passports to travel overseas, because ASIO believed
it was against the security of Australia or another country.
The report highlights World Youth Day and the Beijing Olympics as future
focuses for ASIO
